Setting up Microsoft Teams on your mobile device is easy. Follow these instructions to install and configure Microsoft Teams on your iPhone. This works on iPads too.

Instructions

  1. Launch the App Store on your device.

  2. Click the Search icon in the bottom-right corner and search for “Microsoft Teams” Then click Get and then Install. If you have downloaded the app previously on your Apple account, it will show a cloud icon instead.

  3. After the app finishes downloading, launch the app. You will get three popup questions
”Teams” Would like to send you notifications - Select Allow
”Teams” Would like to access your Contacts - Your Choice on this one
”Teams” Would like to access your Microphone - Select Allow

  4. In the box that says “Enter email, phone, or Skype” type your [uNID]@umail.utah.edu and click Sign in to continue and skip to step 6. (If you see “Select an account to sign in” instead of the screen below, go to step 5 instead).

  5. If you are signed in with your university account on any other Microsoft apps on your phone (like Skype for Business or Outlook), your account will automatically be listed in the next screen (shown below). Click it to sign in with that account and skip to step 7. If the correct account doesn’t show on that screen click “Sign in with another account” and go back to step 4.

  6. It will then come up with the Utah login window. If it’s not already populated, type in your [uNID]@umail.utah.edu for the user name. Then type your CIS password and click Sign in.

It will then pull up the Duo Two-factor Authentication window. Authenticate with a push notification or code as set up in your Duo app. After Authenticated, it will automatically move to the next step.

  7. It will then bring up a window about the Privacy Policy. Click Got it to continue.

  8. You are now logged in to Microsoft Teams.

  9.  To sign out (not usually necessary), press the three lines at the top-left of your screen, and then click Settings. Then scroll to the bottom and select Sign out.
